However, a sequence of notifications cannot be included in one trigger.

OneSignal’s automated workflows, called Journeys, are omnichannel and available only on the professional plan, making them great for ecommerce companies, game developers, and lead generation companies.

At iZooto Workflows are called Playbooks. It has out-of-the-box workflows and customizable ones that are geared for publishers’ needs, such as recover abandon tabsmaximize video watch-timerecover abandoned subscriptions and more, which are great for bringing back readers to your website.

It is only when you serve users with relevant content that they can truly appreciate what you send them. Automating is one thing but personalization is what helps build strong relationships. Push notification personalization is not limited to just adding a name or remembering their birthday! It goes beyond that. Think subscription alerts, Tab abandonment alerts and more.

iZooto and OneSignal are automation champions, but iZooto takes the cake with its ready to go live Playbooks.

Truepush OneSignal iZooto
Audience Monetization Yes No Yes

Publishers can generate revenue through native ads on various channels, enabling businesses to engage and monetize their audience simultaneously. Truepush and iZooto offer push notification ads in addition to regular notifications. OneSignal does not provide this option.

Editorial Experience

All three platforms have their unique features and advantages, but it ultimately boils down to editorial ease and experience. With OneSignal and iZooto, publishers can even choose to auto-push a notification via WordPress every time an article is published.

With Truepush and iZooto you can create notifications within seconds by adding the url while creating a campaign. The notification tile description and event the image is auto fetched and your notification is ready to be sent.

Migration

HTTP integrations don’t allow for subscriber migration, but Truepush, OneSignal, and iZooto enable seamless migration without duplicating prompts for existing subscribers. After sending a notification to the entire subscriber base, the migration to the new provider is automatic when they visit the website. The duration of migration depends on the speed of repeat traffic, so higher repeat traffic leads to faster migration.

Summary

OneSignal’s pricing may seem low initially, but it increases with the number of subscribers, which will inevitably happen over time, making it more expensive than iZooto in just 6 months for 100K unique visitors. Truepush offers a free plan but lacks features, and monetization can only be added later.

Summary

Truepush is suitable for businesses that only need web push notifications, while OneSignal is good for those who require multiple communication channels. For publishers seeking a tool that caters to their specific needs, iZooto is the best audience engagement platform, providing engagement and retargeting playbooks, Messenger email acquisition, on-site interactions and audience monetization.

Final Take

OneSignal seems like it is feature packed, but not all features are available on the free plan. The pricing is created in such a way that a customer will ultimately have to pay more even if they start free. Everyone is here to grow their business, it is obvious that in months or years to come your subscriber count will blow up. OneSignal clearly doesn’t seem to be the right choice, especially for publishers in the long run. The growth plan which again does not have essential features that publishers need is priced far higher than that of iZooto, which offers a lot more retargeting features and playbooks that are helpful for publishers.

While Trupush is the cheapest of the lot, it only has web push notifications as a channel and has limited features that customers can play with. Though they have good segmentation features, they fall short of making playbooks work and seem to be built for ecommerce, but definitely not publishers.
